Pediatrician
For Dr. Lorna Bennett, medicine has been a calling since childhood. Born in Spanish Town, Jamaica, and raised in a close-knit farming community, she developed a passion for helping others at an early age. Guided by parents who emphasized faith, hard work, and education, Dr. Bennett excelled in science and pursued her dream of becoming a physician. A pivotal influence was her high school chemistry teacher, who encouraged her ambitions and helped secure scholarships to attend the University of the West Indies—a kindness Dr. Bennett still remembers with deep gratitude.
After earning her medical degree in Jamaica, Dr. Bennett moved to New York to complete her Pediatric Residency at Harlem Hospital through Columbia University, where she later served as Chief Resident. In 2004, seeking sunshine and a strong sense of community, she relocated to Clermont, Florida. She joined what is now AdventHealth Medical Group and became a respected leader within the local healthcare community, serving as Chair of the Obstetrics and Pediatrics Department at Waterman Hospital. In 2013, she fulfilled another dream by opening Bennett Pediatrics. Today, the thriving practice serves families from two locations in Clermont and Altamonte Springs.
As a pediatrician caring for patients from birth through young adulthood, Dr. Bennett believes listening is one of the most important aspects of medicine. Her guiding philosophy is captured in her favorite quote, “Let go and let God,” reflecting her deep faith and belief that compassion, trust, and understanding are essential to healing. She defines success as achieving goals while positively impacting others and strives each day to create a supportive environment for patients, families, and her team.
Outside the office, family remains her greatest joy. Whether traveling home to Jamaica, spending time with her parents, daughter, siblings, and beloved dog Nova, or dancing to reggae music, Dr. Bennett embraces life with gratitude, energy, and heart.
