ABOUT THE DOCTOR

Dr. Jose R Arias, Jr. serves the greater Central Florida area as an experienced allergy and immunologist specialist.

Dr. Arias assists both adults and children with managing their allergies, asthma, immune system diseases such as recurrent sinus, lung and skin infections, urticari a or hives/welts, food allergies, food sensitivity, drug allergies, insect allergies and angioedema He is able to diagnose and treat children and adults through skin and blood testing, breathing capacity tests (pulmonary function test) patch testing for chemical sensitivity or allergy, skin biopsies, venom testing, oral food challenges and allergy immunotherapy or allergy drops (sublingual immunotherapy).

EDUCATION

Dr. Arias obtained his medical training at the University of South Florida He studied internal medicine which allowed him to treat adults. He then proceeded to complete two additional years training in Allergy and Immunology at the University of South Florida There he obtained extensive experience treating children at John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital a leading center for pediatric treatment, education and research and at Tampa General Hospital, a level one trauma center and children medical center in downtown Tampa

In addition to his clear understanding of allergy and immunology and how it can affect the body, Dr. Arias also personally understands these conditions as he too suffers from allergies and asthma. He also has two adult children who suffer from allergies, asthma and tree nut anaphylaxis. Dr. Arias often says “as a patient and a parent of children with allergies, asthma and food allergies, I have been managing these conditions for many years”.

ACADEMIC AFFILIATION AND MEMBERSHIP

Dr. Arias is an Assistant Professor at the University Of Central Florida College Of Medicine. This allows medical residents, medical students and pre-medical students to rotate with him and learn from him firsthand. He is also a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAA I), The American College of Allergy, asthma and immunology (ACAA I), the Florida Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Society (FAAIS), The Pan-American Medical Society (PAMA) and the American Medical Association (AMA).

CHARITABLE WORK:

Dr. Arias has a love and passion for helping others. He has participated as Camp Physician at Camp Boggy Creek in Eustis, Florida. He has also traveled to Jamaica and has been a part of three medical missions in the mountains north of Ocho Rios.

NEW TREATMENT OFFER:

We now offer sublingual (under the tongue) allergy drops or immunotherapy. This is available for children and adults in all five of our offices. This option offers the flexibility of completing the treatments at home or in our office. The drops are available to treat pet allergy, grasses, trees and weed allergy. We also offer FeNO (Exhaled Nitric Oxide Levels) to help indentify airway inflammation. FeNO helps with making the diagnosis and management of asthma in children and adults

Dr. Arias has been named “Top Doctor” in the field of allergy and immunology for the past 5 years in a row. This is something he feels very proud of obtaining as it is an award chosen by his peers.

GREATEST PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENT:

Dr. Arias’ greatest personal achievement has been raising his two children along with his wife, Jeannie. He is proud to see that despite their allergies and asthma, his children participate in sports with no limitation.

HOBBIES:

Dr. Aria’s hobbies include attending his alma mater (University of South Florida) football games and Orlando City Soccer as well as attending an Orlando Magic game whenever possible. He enjoys visiting the beautiful Florida west coast beaches, photography and spending time with his large extended family and friends.
