Dr. Fortune Alabi is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine. He enjoys all aspects of general Pulmonary and Sleep medicine, with special interests in pulmonary hypertension, sarcoidosis, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary embolism, lung cancer and perioperative medicine.
A graduate of the University of Ilorin in Kwara state, Nigeria, Dr. Alabi moved to the USA and completed his residency and fellowship training at Henry Ford Hospital and the University of Cincinnati, respectively.
He is the founder and managing partner of Florida Lung Asthma and Sleep Specialists (FLASS), with offices in Celebration, Poinciana, Lake Wales, Clermont, and Orlando. Established in 2006, the practice currently has seven other physicians and four nurse practitioners, who Dr. Alabi strongly believes are instrumental to this award.
New location and new physician:
As part of our mission to bring quality service closer to our patients, we have opened a new location in Clermont by joining forces with Dr. Raul Carrillo, a well known and respected pulmonologist in the area. He brings with him 18 years of clinical practice, with the last 15 years spent in Lake County serving the areas of Leesburg, The Villages, and Clermont. He is board certified in Pulmonary Disease and Internal Medicine. He attended medical school at Universidad de Cartagena in Cartagena, Columbia. He completed postgraduate training at Elmhurst Hospital Center/Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. We are very delighted to have Dr. Carrillo join the FLASS family.
Patient Advisory Council (PAC):
We also want to take a moment to acknowledge the members of our PAC for volunteering and dedicating their time to the PAC mission. Our PAC is comprised of patients that meet with our management team to provide feedback. The council provides valuable insight on the services that we are providing to our patients, and helps us to critique our processes through the eyes of a patient.
The recommendations made by the PAC have been extremely valuable to us and have helped us design care delivery processes that place patient convenience and excellent care delivery at the core of everything we do. Our partnership with PAC has enabled us to evolve from excellent physicians into excellent care providers.
At Florida Lung Asthma and Sleep Specialists, we strive to be excellent care providers and not just excellent physicians.
Membership and Academic Affiliations:
Dr. Alabi is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, American Thoracic Society, Society of Critical Care Medicine, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, American College of Physician Executives and the European Respiratory Society. He is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Central Florida’s School of Medicine.

Dr. Alabi has received numerous honors and awards over the years including: Leading Physicians of the World Award, America’s Best Doctors, Patients Choice Award, and Compassionate Physicians Award. In his free time, Dr. Alabi enjoys reading just about anything he can get his hands on. Some of his favorite authors include: Malcolm Gladwell, Derek Thompson, Adam Grant and John Grisham. Dr. Alabi also enjoys exploring new parts of the world. Some of his favorite travel destinations have been Melbourne, Australia; Mendoza, Argentina; Santorini, Greece; Budapest, Hungary; Vienna, Austria; Saigon, Vietnam; and Cape Town, South Africa.
