Dr. Hany Takla, MD, FACS, FASMBS, is a highly accomplished robotic general surgeon whose career is defined by innovation, compassion, and a commitment to improving patients’ lives. Born and raised in Cairo, Egypt, he grew up in a family deeply rooted in medicine. Inspired by his grandfather, a cardiologist, and his physician parents, he developed an early appreciation for the profound impact healthcare professionals can have on individuals and communities.
After earning his medical degree from Cairo University, Dr. Takla moved to the United States to pursue advanced surgical training. He completed his General Surgery residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical School before advancing his expertise through a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery at Banner–University Medical Center Tucson. Today, he serves patients throughout Central Florida with Orlando Health, where he has built a fully robotic surgical practice and performed more than 2,000 robotic procedures specializing in bariatric surgery, hernia repair, abdominal wall reconstruction, and foregut surgery.
Dr. Takla’s philosophy is centered on combining cutting-edge technology with individualized, patient-focused care. He believes successful outcomes are measured not only in the operating room but in the lives patients regain afterward—whether through improved health, restored confidence, increased mobility, or a renewed quality of life. His dedication extends beyond patient care through research, surgical innovation, and mentorship, including his role as faculty at the Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he helps educate and inspire future physicians.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Takla enjoys running, traveling with his wife, exploring new cultures and cuisines, and visiting family in Egypt. An avid adventurer, he is a kite surfer, has hiked Machu Picchu twice, and speaks three languages. Through every endeavor, he remains committed to excellence, lifelong learning, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
