Interventional Spine and Pain Physician

Dr. Braithwaite
Amber and Brian Braithwaite

Born in Montreal, Canada, Dr. Brian Braithwaite was introduced to medicine at an early age through his parents—his father, an OB/GYN physician, and his mother, a nurse. Spending weekends alongside his father at the hospital sparked a lifelong passion for patient care and service. That early exposure shaped not only his career path, but also his belief that medicine is ultimately about improving lives through compassion, trust, and expertise.

Dr. Braithwaite’s educational journey reflects both ambition and versatility. After earning his undergraduate degree in Microbiology and Cell Science from the University of Florida, he attended the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. During medical school, he pursued a joint MD/JD opportunity through Arizona State University, completing law school in just two years before returning to finish medical training at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona. He later completed his anesthesia residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, followed by a fellowship in Interventional Pain at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas.

Today, Dr. Braithwaite serves as an Interventional Spine and Pain Physician at Orlando Health Jewett Orthopaedics and Spine Center, where he specializes in advanced procedures including epidural therapy, ablation therapy, and joint injections. Recruited to Orlando through a unique opportunity to help build a world-class orthopedic and spine program from the ground up, he was drawn to the organization’s culture of excellence and innovation. His philosophy is simple: treat every patient like family while delivering the highest level of consistent, individualized care possible.

Outside the hospital, Dr. Braithwaite prioritizes family, fitness, and community. He and his wife, Amber are raising their three children in Winter Park, where they enjoy evenings on Park Avenue, local farmers markets, and an active lifestyle that includes travel and pickleball. He also serves on both the Mayo Clinic Alumni Association Board and the Lake Highland Board of Visitors. Looking ahead, he is excited to support Optiml, his wife’s upcoming boutique medical practice in Winter Park, which looks beyond standard labs to find what’s really driving a patient’s health — then builds a personalized plan to optimize it.
