Claudia Gutierrez

From Bogotá, Colombia, to building her own fashion brand in Central Florida, Claudia Gutierrez’s journey has been one of creativity, resilience, and purpose. As she prepares for the next chapter of her growing business, we caught up with Claudia to discuss her path into fashion, the inspiration behind her designs, and the impact she hopes to make through her work.

Maha: Before fashion, who was Claudia? Tell me about yourself. What experiences shaped you the most growing up?

Claudia: Before fashion, I was a young woman growing up in Bogotá, Colombia, with my two sisters, one of whom is my identical twin. Growing up surrounded by strong, hardworking women taught me resilience, independence, and determination. My sisters have always inspired me, and my twin has been one of my biggest supporters, encouraging me to pursue my dreams and believe in my creativity.

From a young age, I was drawn to creating. I was constantly observing the world around me and finding inspiration in the energy, culture, and beauty of the city. Those experiences, combined with the support of my family, shaped my perspective and gave me the confidence to build something of my own.

Maha: It sounds like creativity was always part of who you were. What is the story behind how your journey into fashion first began?

Claudia: My journey into fashion began with a love for creating. From a young age, I was always drawn to making things with my hands and bringing ideas to life. When I learned how to sew, it opened up a new world for me. I loved the process of taking an idea and transforming it into something tangible and meaningful.

Fashion became more than just clothing. It became a way for me to express myself, tell stories, and connect with others. What started as a creative passion quickly grew into something much bigger as I realized I could use fashion to inspire confidence and help people feel their best.

Maha: While fashion started as a creative passion, your brand was ultimately born from a much deeper personal experience. Was there a pivotal moment in your life that pushed you to take the leap and create something of your own?

Claudia: The most impactful moment in my life, and at the same time my greatest motivation, was when my son was diagnosed with cancer from one day to the next.

Amid the pain, uncertainty, and all the emotions we experienced as a family, I realized that I needed to step out of my comfort zone and make decisions that would transform our future. That experience made me understand that a traditional job, with fixed schedules and routines, was far from the life I wanted for myself and, most importantly, for my son’s well-being.

That experience challenged me to believe in myself, dream bigger, and create something of my own. That is how my brand was born: from love, resilience, and a determination to make a positive impact.

Everything I do today has a deeper purpose. My story, the challenges I faced, and the love I have for my son became the driving force that shaped me into the entrepreneur I am today.

Maha: Thank you for sharing that. It’s clear that your journey is rooted in resilience and purpose. How have those experiences influenced your style, design aesthetic, and the types of pieces you create today?

Claudia: I draw inspiration from women who are strong, confident, and real—women who don’t need permission to take up space.

My style is clean, powerful, and feminine with intention. I love pieces that feel elegant but still have strength in them—silhouettes that move with confidence and presence.

I create designs that empower women to feel bold, elevated, and effortless at the same time.

Maha: Beyond the designs themselves, what message or feeling do you hope women take away when they wear your pieces?

Claudia: I want women to feel powerful.

Not because of what they’re wearing, but because the piece reminds them of who they already are.

I want my designs to reflect confidence, elegance, and authenticity. Every woman deserves to feel seen, beautiful, and comfortable in her own skin.

For me, fashion is more than clothing. It’s a way to express who we are without saying a word. If one of my designs helps a woman feel more confident when she walks into a room, then I’ve done my job.

Maha: Since launching your brand, how has this journey changed you personally and professionally?

Claudia: Fashion has changed my life in ways I never imagined. It has given me the opportunity to express my creativity, inspire other women, and build something meaningful from my own experiences.

This journey has taught me resilience, confidence, and the importance of believing in myself even during difficult times. Through fashion, I discovered that clothing is more than just what we wear—it is a way to tell a story, empower people, and help them feel confident and beautiful.

Most importantly, it has allowed me to create a life with purpose, turning challenges into motivation and passion into a brand that reflects who I am and what I stand for.

Maha: You’ve spoken about fashion as a tool for empowerment. Was there a particular moment along the way when you realized this was exactly what you were meant to do?

Claudia: There wasn’t one single moment, but several experiences that confirmed I was on the right path. One of the most meaningful was collaborating with the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on a project that impacted more than 50 women. Seeing them gain confidence, reconnect with their identity, and discover a new sense of self made me realize my work was about much more than designing clothing.

In that moment, I understood that fashion has the power to create meaningful change. It can help women feel seen, confident, and empowered. That experience reinforced my purpose and showed me that my mission is not only to create beautiful pieces, but to inspire women to embrace who they are and step into their full potential.

Maha: Your story is one of determination through difficult circumstances. What do you hope your brand and your journey represent for women who may be facing challenges or uncertain seasons in their own lives?

Claudia: I hope my story reminds women that challenges don’t define them.

Life isn’t always easy, and success is rarely a straight line. What matters is continuing to move forward, even when things are difficult.

If my journey can inspire someone to keep believing in themselves, start over, or keep chasing a dream they’ve almost given up on, then sharing my story is worth it.

Maha: Looking ahead, what’s next for the brand, and what legacy do you ultimately hope to leave behind?

Claudia: My vision is to continue growing the brand while staying true to its purpose.

One of the most exciting milestones ahead is the opening of my own boutique in Thornton Park, just a few weeks from now. I am creating a unique shopping concept that brings together the best of local fashion talent alongside carefully selected international brands. More than a store, I want it to be a destination where women can discover their personal style, feel inspired, and enjoy a meaningful shopping experience.

As for the impact I hope to leave behind, I want to be remembered not only for the designs I created, but for the women I empowered along the way. If my work helps women believe in themselves, embrace their individuality, and pursue their dreams with confidence, then I will know I have fulfilled my purpose.

With a new boutique on the horizon and a growing brand rooted in purpose, Claudia Gutierrez is continuing to make her mark –

one design at a time.
