Everyone Deserves a Second Chance

Orlando's Doctors of the Year 2026

Bill Umansky—known throughout Florida’s legal community as “The Lawman”—is the founder and managing partner of the Umansky Law Firm in Orlando, Florida. With more than three decades of legal experience, Bill has built his career around one simple but powerful mission: giving people the Second Chance they deserve. Whether advocating for clients injured by negligence or defending individuals facing criminal charges, Bill brings relentless preparation, courtroom command, and genuine compassion to every case.

That commitment is deeply personal. Raised in a broken home, Bill grew up navigating trauma, anger, and a sense of powerlessness. He struggled in school and pushed back against authority until mentors and faith intervened. Through accountability, resilience, and belief in himself, Bill transformed his life. That journey did not just lead him to the law; it defined his purpose. He chose this profession to help others reclaim their power and rewrite their stories.

Bill graduated cum laude from the University of South Florida with a degree in Psychology and earned his law degree from the University of Florida College of Law, where he was a member of the Trial Team and received multiple academic honors. He later expanded his legal education at the Tulane Institute of European Legal Studies in Paris.

Before founding his firm in 1999, Bill tried more than one hundred cases as a Brevard County prosecutor. He later served as a Domestic Violence Division Chief, City Prosecutor for Orlando, and Police Academy Instructor. Today, the Umansky Law Firm handles complex criminal defense and personal injury cases statewide, known for results-driven advocacy and fearless litigation.

Married for over thirty years to his wife Zahra, also a criminal defense attorney, Bill is a proud father to Zak and Jake and lives by the belief that guides everything he does: everyone deserves a Second Chance.
