Break out your sunglasses and sunscreen because summertime is upon us! But before you put this magazine down and jump in that refreshing pool, be sure you check out some of Orlando’s best events throughout the month of June. Here are the highlights, just in case you missed it!
“Water is Life. Life is Joy.” That’s the philosophy celebrated at the all-new Volcano Bay water theme park! With the grand opening of Universal’s third park, Central Floridians have gone into full summer mode, and the celebrations are continuing well into this month and beyond with exciting water-based thrills and entertainment. To celebrate seven years of adventure, Wild Florida kicked off the month of June by offering everyone free admission to their popular Gator and Wildlife Park! From now through December 31st, you and your family will be able to see live animal shows, explore the Hawk Swamp, and hang out with the Wild Florida family all for free. Get up close and personal with more than 200 animals as you explore the interesting habitats and heritage of lemurs, zebra, watusi, bobcats, sloths, and the many other exotic animals that call Wild Florida home!
From June 6th-11th, Finding Neverland took over the Dr. Phillips Center and brought to life the incredible story behind one of the world’s most beloved characters: Peter Pan. The play follows playwright J.M. Barrie, who struggled to find inspiration until he met four young brothers and their beautiful widowed mother. Spellbound by the boys’ enchanting make-believe adventures, he sets out to write a play that will astound London theatergoers. With a little bit of pixie dust and a lot of faith, Barrie takes this monumental leap, leaving his old world behind for Neverland, where nothing is impossible and the wonder of childhood lasts forever.
Arrr, Matey! Orlando Pub Crawl was at it again with the Ye Parched Pirates Pub Crawl on Friday, June 16th. Central Florida’s handsome pirates and beautiful wenches gathered up their eye patches, wooden legs, and swords to hunt for the ultimate booty. No stone was left unturned as Orlando Pub Crawl participants searched all over Wall Street Plaza and downtown Orlando for the prize. Fortunately, pirates know X always marks the spot! Ticketed crawlers received admission to all participating venues, complimentary beverages, drink specials and 25% off pita at Pita Pit, which proved to be the perfect end to a jolly good night!
Orlando’s Festival of the Sea was a family event meant to bring out those who share one thing in common…the love of seafood! The seafood festival took place on June 17th at Orlando Festival Park and proved to be great fun for the whole family. Guests not only had access to an amazing outdoor experience with multiple seafood vendors serving all of their favorites, but they also had an opportunity to enjoy arts & craft vendors and a beer & wine garden. As for parents with young ones, even the kids had a designated play area to interact with many their age! With live music, DJ entertainment, face painting, clown balloon making and more, the Festival of the Sea truly had it all.
Surf beyond your expectations and dive into Electric Ocean, SeaWorld’s all-new summer nighttime celebration! Electric Ocean is a festival of lights, music, and life that’s as vibrant as the sea itself. Since June 17th, visitors have given themselves permission to voyage into exotic underwater worlds that come alive as the sun sets with brilliant energy, electrifying dance music, and dazzling light. From live performers and an all-ages club to beautiful fireworks and dancing along to Shamu’s Celebration: Light Up The Night, Electric Ocean is your family’s electrifying destination for the ultimate nighttime celebration. Best of all, the bash runs from now through August 5th, so don’t miss out on the fun!
Presented by Journeys, the 2017 Vans Warped Tour returned to Tinker Field at Camping World Stadium on June 30th to the delight of thousands of fans! Vans Warped Tour is the largest traveling music festival in the United States, and the longest-running touring music festival in North America. The globally recognized event was originally conceived by founder Kevin Lyman in 1995 as an eclectic alternative rock festival, with a focus on punk rock. Over the years the tour has grown to include a multitude of genres, including metal, hip-hop, reggae, pop and more.
