I chose our tag line, “a delightful dental experience,” because it’s audacious and it holds us accountable to patients who are anxious about seeing a dentist. From that first phone call until you walk out our door following your anxiety-free appointment, we’re going to make sure you have a beautiful smile, inside and out.
FORE Minutes in My Office
We have a four-minute rule. That’s FORE! Before we do anything, we ask questions and then we listen. We have learnt that each person comes with their owner’s manual and in being present with each patient we get a roadmap on their dental needs, their smile desires and ultimately the way they like to be treated. This potentiates the excellent dental care we give and the patient leaves feeling heard, valued and well taken care of.
A Lifelong Learner
I knew as a young child that I wanted to be a dentist, but not just any dentist. I wanted to practice at the highest level. So I left my homeland in Lagos, Nigeria to move to the United States and study at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania. Excellence is not an accident. I work at it, continuing my education every year, learning and mastering the art and science of sedation dentistry, implant dentistry, and cosmetic dentistry from the best in the world. Most recently, I earned a mastership from the International Congress of Oral Implantology, something only five percent of dentists worldwide receive.
Embracing Community
I like to say we are blessed to be a blessing. Every year, We host a free dental care day, supported by other dental professionals in the area. During the last one, we saw 133 patients. We made it more than just a trip to the dentist. We made it an occasion. Local restaurants and businesses donated food, water, and drinks. I wanted to create not only a day where people who could not afford a dentist could get great care, but also a day that inspired them to go out and do something for their community.
My Passions
I train for triathlons with my husband, Dr Banji Awosika who is a nephrologist with a focus on wellness. I’m a foodie who loves going to farmers’ markets with our three children. My faith in Jesus Christ is central to my life.
The Power of Wow
I’ve learned from Disney, Zappos, Apple, Four Seasons, and other companies the power of core values for my practice. We deliver “wow” through service. We do common things uncommonly so we can achieve great clinical outcomes. I get such joy and fulfillment when patients say: “I can’t believe this is a dental office.” Recently, I completed a bridge of nine implants for a 79-year-old patient, who started to cry tears of joy during our last session. I realized this is why I am a dentist. This is why I invest my time, my heart, and my faith in creating beautiful smiles that go soul deep.
