Infectious Disease MD
Dr. Javier Tello is a dedicated Infectious Disease physician and founder of Mid Florida Infectious Disease MD, with over three decades of compassionate service in Central Florida. Born and raised in Lima, Peru, his passion for medicine ignited in high school through a fascination with biology and human anatomy. A transformative tropical medicine rotation in the Peruvian Amazon solidified his commitment to infectious diseases, a field that continues to drive his career today.
Dr. Tello earned his medical degree from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia before moving to the United States in 1990. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and pursued a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After practicing in Louisiana, he settled in Orlando, drawn by his wife Fanny’s love for Florida. Together they raised three daughters — Daniela, Alejandra, and Isabella — and now cherish time with their grandchildren Mia, Liam, and Mauricio.
As a consultant at AdventHealth Celebration and multiple nursing homes, Dr. Tello specializes in complex infectious disease management and antimicrobial stewardship. Recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the Infectious Diseases Society of America, he has published in prestigious journals, presented at national conferences, and contributed to board exam development for the American Board of Internal Medicine. His professional philosophy centers on empathy, integrity, and evidence-based care — listening deeply to patients and delivering thoughtful treatment that restores health and reunites families.
Outside the hospital, Dr. Tello recharges with morning espresso and yogurt, daily Tonal and Peloton workouts, weekend dinners with friends, and frequent travel to Spain, the Dominican Republic, and Peru. He loves Orlando’s vibrant Maitland neighborhood and Winter Park’s culinary scene. A passionate water sports enthusiast who occasionally surfs, Dr. Tello plans to continue practicing medicine while exploring new destinations with his beloved wife for years to come.
