New York City, the most populous city in the United States. This is where Ruben Santiago found himself in 1983 working for a small hotel located off of Broadway and 8th Avenue. Always maintaining a positive outlook on life, it was here that he learned the importance of customer satisfaction.

Not that driving a car in NYC was a regular occurrence for Ruben, his niche for automobiles was greater. He would buy older cars that needed some cosmetic work, fix them up and sell them. In early 1987, Ruben decided to turn over the hotel keys in exchange for some brand new keys. These keys would unlock many doors to his automotive future.

He began selling Chevrolets for a dealer in Boston, Massachusetts. Never losing sight of the importance of customer satisfaction, he was determined to set new boundaries. “It is all about exceeding the customers expectation.” For far too long, the automotive industry did not place enough importance on doing right by the customer, thus treating customers as expendable. “That mindset can literally close down a dealership,” he states. Wasting no time at all, Ruben quickly worked his way up to General Manager for a local dealer group. He knew that he was cut out for the automobile industry, but the winter challenges were taking a toll. And so, in 2003 he relocated to Central Florida.

While working for a public company automotive retailer Ruben met the owner of Mercedes Benz of South Orlando, Dorian Boyland. That chance meeting led to his joining the Boyland Auto Group in June 2013 as General Manager. Mercedes Benz of South Orlando, located off of I-4, across from the Mall at Millenia has been servicing the Central Florida community since April 2004. The newest addition to the Boyland Auto Group is Subaru of South Orlando, where Ruben is also the General Manager. The Subaru dealership is located at 9951 S. Orange Blossom Trail (2 Miles South of the Florida Mall). Not only is a brand new Subaru dealership located here, “we have everything anyone could ever need for their vehicle.” It has a Bumper Doc facility that can handle anything a vehicle may need, from minor bodywork to a major collision repair. There is a Meineke Auto Center that services any make, model or year vehicle. A full service car wash, as well as window tinting, is available. Since giving the auto industry a “shot” back in 1987, Ruben not only continues to set new boundaries by managing dealerships, he also created a passion along the way to help his employees succeed in their individual lives as well as their professional careers. Anyone can manage someone, but placing a value on an individual instills growth potential. This strength of character continues to motivate his staff of 125 at Mercedes Benz of South Orlando and a staff of 80 at Subaru of South Orlando to always do right by the customer and to be the best they can be. His goal for his staff at both locations is to make the experience for the customer as precise and pleasant as possible. Precise because the new commodity today is time, or more importantly the lack there of, pleasant because the reality is that coming in to purchase or service a vehicle can be frustrating and we stay focused on changing that mentality.
