Nelson Mandela stated “No one truly knows a nation until one has been inside its jails. A nation should not be judged by how it treats its highest citizens but its lowest ones.” This statement embodies the legal practice of Attorney Gail S. Seeram, who defends and advocates for the rights of immigrants in the United States.
An immigrant herself, Attorney Seeram was born in Guyana and grew up in New York since age 5. Growing up in New York, she embraced and appreciated various cultures and in turn this diversity added to her integrity and dedication to the field of immigration law. As a naturalized U.S. citizen, she can appreciate the personal and legal challenges faced by those seeking to call the United States home.
Attorney Seeram has been practicing law for over 15 years. She established the Immigration Law Offices of Gail S. Seeram in 2003 and her practice is dedicated exclusively to immigration and nationality law. She has assisted thousands of individuals facing the most difficult challenges of their lives such as family unification, maintaining a profitable business that is based on an immigrant investor visa, fleeing persecution and seeking refuge in the U.S., fighting deportation/removal court proceedings and applying for U.S. citizenship.
She obtained a LL.M degree from New York University School of Law, a Juris Doctor degree from Hofstra University School of Law and a Bachelor’s in Accounting from Hofstra University.
Attorney Seeram is a frequent lecturer and writer on immigration policies and procedures and has been quoted over ten times in the Orlando Sentinel newspaper. Further, she is a former adjunct professor at Queens College, Flushing, New York. She is well respected by her peers and was elected two years as President of the Central Florida American Immigration Lawyers Association and for the past six years served as Chair for the Immigration and Custom Enforcement liaison committee.
Attorney Seeram makes time to serve her community and was recipient of the Good Samaritan Award by Lutheran Services Florida, formerly chaired the Orange County Children and Families Services Board, and currently chairs an advisory committee to Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings.
In 2011, while re-discovering her immigration roots in Guyana, Attorney Seeram formed the GAIL Foundation, an IRC 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization. As executive director of the GAIL Foundation, she has lead four successful fundraising campaigns and has built and donated playground equipment and playrooms to orphanages, shelters, and a special needs school in Guyana.
Attorney Seeram is married to Raymond Ali and they have been blessed with two beautiful children, Andrew and Abigail.
“At the end of the day, what matters is the impact you make on someone’s life – whether it’s a family member, friend or complete stranger. My goal is not to judge but defend and advocate for my clients and the people with no voices.”
