Roses are red, Violets are blue, February was a rocking month And we’ve got the highlights for you!

Flowers by the dozens, romantic cards, beautiful jewelry, and chocolate—lots and lots of chocolates. Love was in the air last month as the city of Orlando celebrated Valentine’s Day. It was quite the magical time indeed, but hopefully you weren’t too busy eating heart-shaped candies and whispering sweet nothings to miss out on the rest of the fun February had to offer!

From February 7th-9th, automotive enthusiast across Central Florida came together for the 10th Annual “Cars for the Cure” Heathrow automotive festival. The event, hosted by the American Lung Association in Florida, is the largest charitable car show in the Southeast United States. Year after year they put on a phenomenal event and 2014 was no different as over 150 cars lined the beautiful streets of Colonial TownPark to showcase some of the world’s most unique and unforgettable cars. The weekend kicked off on Friday with a VIP Cocktail and Hors d’oeuvres Reception held for entrants and sponsors of the event. Saturday was the all day auto showing and attendees were thrilled to be surrounded by gorgeous European exotics, high-power racers, muscle cars, custom bikes and more. The festival proved to be a family event as adults and children alike posed for photo ops with everything from Lamborghinis and Bugattis to Aston Martins and Porsches. Sunday brought Cars for the Cure to a close with the traditional Sunday Dive for registered participants. Proceeds from festival benefited the American Lung Association in Central Florida.

On February 9th, locals from all walks of life showed up to Downtown Orlando’s hottest new restaurant, Kasa Tapas and Raw Bar for the kickoff of “Bubbles n’ Brunch.” The event marked the start of what is sure to become a beloved Sunday afternoon tradition of bottomless mimosas and an unlimited brunch buffet. Attendees of the launch party were treated to non-stop DJ entertainment as they enjoyed a raw bar with fresh seafood and a globally inspired menu comprised by Executive Chef Shawn Kaplan and “Food Network Star” Alum Josh Lyons. Bubbles n’ Brunch’s hot music, live acts and fun themes promise to keep the party going every Sunday afternoon at Kasa Tapas and Raw Bar in Downtown Orlando.

Spring may be approaching fast, but Carmen Steffens is one step ahead! On February 12th, the internationally acclaimed, high-end store hosted their “Valentine’s Spring Collection Event.” There they revealed the latest designs in beautiful leather shoes, gorgeous handbags and various accessories to the guests who made it on the list for this limited spaced event. It was a fantastic evening of fashion and fun as attendees enjoyed complimentary drink selections, appetizers and live DJ entertainment. The first 50 guests who made a collection purchase were excited to receive a free CS “Love” tote bag and Orlando Style Magazine topped off the evening with the big reveal of their highly anticipated February issue.

For nearly two decades, Nude Nite has allowed various forms of artistic talent to celebrate the beauty of the body via their respected mediums. From February 13th-15th, the 3-evening event returned to Orlando to do just that all over again. Thousands of attendees and artists showed up to the must-see event which proved to be much more than an art show through unforgettable performances of saucy burlesque, high flying aerialists, live body painting and more. With a bazaar-like atmosphere and an abundance of bold imagery and unique artwork that you won’t find anywhere else, it’s no wonder Nude Nite is one of the largest national juried exhibitions in the country. It was high-energy all weekend long as a live DJ, strolling musicians and memorable artwork by emerging artists and photographers came together to put on this powerful event.

Saturday, February 15th was the Superbowl for Central Florida food enthusiasts and beloved fans of NORMAN’S at the Ritz-Carlton Grande Lakes. The highly anticipated, ticketed-only event was a cookbook signing and discussion hosted by Chef Norman Van Aken for his two best-selling works: “No Experience Necessary” and “My Key West Kitchen.” Of course it’s impossible to host an event at NORMAN’S without serving guest a selection of the exquisite meal selections they’re famous for—unless you want a riot on your hands, that is. Fortunately attendees of the event got both an autographed book and a delicious reception that followed. Guest enjoyed a variety of mouth watering options which included beer steamed Key West shrimp, Chez Nancy spiny lobster, grill-roasted Lake Meadow duck breast, tournedos of beef “for a mother” with sunny side up quail eggs and much more.

The number one New Year’s resolution is to lose weight and if you’re one of those determined to have a healthy lifestyle in 2014, Athleta just might be the store for you! On February 17th, Athleta and Orlando Style Magazine presented Athleta’s Orlando store opening party at the Mall at Millenia. Athleta boasts performance-driven apparel in cute, feminine designs for all your active adventures. Guest of the grand opening party enjoyed drinks and appetizers as they scoped out the new store and shopped for some of the hottest workout apparel to hit the City Beautiful.
